What Is a Product?
A product is a listing for an item type you want to rent out. For example, "Canon EOS R5 Camera" or "10ft Step Ladder" would each be a product. Each product can have multiple individual items (units) available for rent.
Before You Start
Make sure you have:
- An activated rental system (How to activate)
- At least one rental option set up (Create rental options)
- Photos of your product ready to upload
Creating a Product
Step 1: Navigate to Add Product
- Log in to your dashboard
- Click on My Products or Products in the sidebar
- Click Add Product
Step 2: Basic Information
Product Name
Choose a clear, searchable name:
- ✅ "Sony A7III Mirrorless Camera"
- ❌ "Camera" (too generic)
Brand
Enter the manufacturer or brand name:
- Sony, Canon, DeWalt, etc.
Model
Specify the exact model:
- A7III, EOS R5, DW735, etc.
Description
Write a detailed description including:
- What the product is
- Key features and specifications
- What's included (accessories, cables, etc.)
- Condition notes
Step 3: Categories
Select relevant categories to help customers find your product:
- Choose primary category (e.g., "Photography")
- Add subcategories if applicable (e.g., "Cameras", "Mirrorless")
Step 4: Pricing
Set your rental rates for different time periods:

Tips for pricing:
- Research similar items on the platform
- Consider your item's value and condition
- Factor in maintenance and cleaning costs
Step 5: Photos
Add high-quality photos of your product:
- Click Add Photos
- Upload images (recommended: at least 3-5 photos)
- Add descriptions to each photo
- Drag to reorder (first photo is the main image)
Photo tips:
- Use good lighting
- Show different angles
- Include any accessories
- Show any wear or imperfections honestly
Step 6: Instructions (Optional)
Add usage instructions for renters:
- How to use the equipment
- Safety precautions
- Care instructions
- What to do if something goes wrong
This helps renters use your items properly and reduces damage.
Step 7: Save and Review
- Click Create Product or Save
- Review your listing
- Make any needed edits
After Creating a Product
Your product is now created, but it's not rentable yet! You need to:
- Add Product Items - Individual units that can be rented
- Assign to Locations - Where each item can be picked up

Managing Products
Editing a Product
- Go to My Products
- Find the product and click on it
- Click Edit or use the edit tabs
- Make changes and save
Product Tabs
When viewing a product, you'll see tabs for:
- Details: Basic info, description, photos
- Items/Stock: Individual units for rent
- Pricing: Rental rates
- History: Past rentals of this product
- Comments: Customer reviews
- QR Code: Scannable code for the product
Deleting a Product
Warning: Deleting a product also removes all its items and history.
- Open the product
- Scroll to the Danger Zone
- Click Delete Product
- Confirm deletion
Tips for Great Listings
- Be descriptive: More details = more trust
- Use quality photos: First impressions matter
- Price competitively: Check similar listings
- Keep it updated: Remove unavailable items
- Respond to reviews: Engage with customer feedback
