@fountain_nyc + Body is more than a soap and candle shop — it’s a social enterprise powered by @fountainhouse, a nonprofit with a community-based recovery program for individuals living with serious mental illness. The shop creates sustainable products (like soaps and candles) while offering meaningful, paid employment opportunities through Fountain House’s transitional employment program. Participants work in 6-month roles designed to help them re-enter the workforce while maintaining access to mental health support. Originally located in SoHo, the shop moved to a larger space in Hell’s Kitchen to be closer to the main organization — and to serve as a flexible community space for art exhibitions, open mics, or gatherings. Katherine (left), co-manager of Fountain House + Body, first joined Fountain House to work in its supportive housing program. As she visited apartments across the city, she was struck by how many people wanted to return to work — which led her to get involved with the store. Carmichael (right), one of the shop’s founders, helped launch Fountain House + Body in response to a growing challenge: finding enough transitional employment (TE) opportunities. TE roles allow participants to work for six months while still receiving mental health support and benefits. When available jobs became scarce, Fountain House created its own — launching a social enterprise that provides real, public-facing work and fosters everyday social connection. With the new space, they hope to triple the number of people employed compared to the previous location — and continue to build a welcoming, sustainable, and community-rooted business. They’re both deeply grateful for the support they’ve received from the Hell’s Kitchen community. Come visit, buy their products, and rent one of Green Gooding's appliances ;-).

Two weeks ago, during #newyorktechweek , I had the opportunity to deliver a live pitch introducing Green Gooding to potential partners and investors who could help us grow. Not sure how much I have shared, but we want to offer Green Gooding's services in 20 locations in NYC before the end of the year, so that it can truly be around the corner from you. I am not going to lie, I dreaded it, not great at public speaking, don't enjoy the spotlight, and in many ways Green Gooding feels different from most tech products out there... But I did it, together with 25 other companies from Europe that day, and I am glad I did. I feel more ready now, able to talk about business plan, ROI and more importantly how this can truly make a difference. Thanks to everyone including @lafrenchtechnewyork who supported us. What we like most at Green Gooding is to give a second life to unused items. Here is a gently used (but super cool) juicer donated by our dear friend @charles_billot We tested, gave it a good clean, and it has now started its second life as a rental at @precyclenyc in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. It will continue making delicious juices for many people. Summer has started (kinda). Big week/ day for Green Gooding. Yesterday morning at 10.00 am I opened our 5th rental location in North Greenpoint and at 6.00 pm I pitched to investors and business angels during #NYTechweek. In one day I learned how to set up Metro shelves in a daily (spoiler: not easy), and I was told that "Green Gooding is ready to talk to investors". Not bad for a small idea that started in Greenpoint two years ago ;-)

Hi everyone, today we opened our 5th location in NYC and our first one in North Greenpoint. You can now rent carpet cleaners, ice cream machines, and air fryers on Blue Slip (last street at the end of West/ Franklin/ Manhattan).
